Goddess-Inspired Personification of Liberty, Justice, and Nations
Throughout the world, we see beautiful statues of females representing the personification of liberty and justice. Many are thought to be modeled after ancient goddesses, such as Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty, or Themis, the Greek goddess of Justice. Each takes on a special meaning and purpose in the city, town, country, or area in which they reside. Some have universal significance. Here are just three examples of how these concepts are brought alive in famous statues.
