Venus, the Roman goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality, is one of the most famous goddesses on the planet. She even has her own planet—Venus, planet of poetry, music, pleasure, and love. Her name is synonymous with all that is feminine, and with love and passion. She is reputed for her sizzling sexuality, her thorough enjoyment of her own exploits, and her complete and utter appreciation of self. Well aware of her own stunning beauty and status, she cherishes her power and, when expressing her dark side, will squash all annoying competition.
She has her generous side, helping mortals make manifest their own great love stories. Born as a fully formed female who arose from the sea on a shell, she represents the divinely independent female. Her love affairs with the hottest men of mythology are legendary. Volatile Mars and gorgeous Adonis are among her great paramours, but you won't see her waiting by the phone for her hunky god to call. She is more likely to go out and find a replacement to suit her current whim, or simply be happy left to her own devices. Venus possesses a magic girdle—crafted with love by her husband, Vulcan—and when she wears it, anyone around her will fall under her spell. She is often pictured naked, rising from the sea on her shell, covered only by her hands and hair.
